- stand alone for 10-15 seconds

- walk along furniture (quite well)
- give kisses.. open mouth for extended periods of time... its awesome.
- feed herself
- click her tongue on the roof of her mouth
- give high fives
- walk with assistance from toys
- turn off the tv while standing next to it
- dance
- wave
- drink from sippy cups! woohoo.. we are on the road to no bottles...
- throw tantrums when exhausted!
- win her daddy's heart with one smile!
Zoey loves...
- computer wires and chords and tons of other things she shouldn't be into..
- books. she will sit and flip pages for hours!

- computer
- food, cheerios, puffs.. any food really
- bottles.. she goes NUTS for them!
- remote controls
- playing in her crib

She is the best baby ever... and the only thing that makes us sad is she is growing up too fast...

An unexpected visit...
Papa and Nana decided that 3 weeks without Zoey was too much to handle, so they took advantage of the longer weekend and came up for a visit bring uncle brett and steve with them..
Zoey became very attached to Nana.. Zoey learned to say "nana" this past week, but didn't say it once.. while they were here... of course!
Papa and Nana bought Zoey a new high chair while they were here.. which Zoey loves!
Uncle Brett helping Zoey get dressed!
Playing on Uncle Steve's computer!
Lounging with Uncle Steve and her "O's"
...deciding if she wants to share with papa... she finally shared one or two...
All of this was too much excitement for papa...
We had a blast.. and Zoey is waiting by the door for your return! We love you guys!

What I haven't posted in a week?!?
I was reminded of this my my mother... so i promised i would post... not too much excitement around here.. but here are some highlights...
This is how wonderful Zoey is.. she will just play by herself...talking to her toys and she doesn't even make a mess! woohoo.. let's hope it continues!
Zoey climbing all over the place.. I made "Washington" shirts to wear to Gary's soccer games.. unfortunately it has been too cold to even go... this week isn't look good either...
Zoey playing on her walking toy.. she can scoot backwards and take steps when it is put up...
I think the shirt has been good luck.. ever since Zoey has gotten the shirt and worn it on game day the Eagles have been winning... so of course next week it will be worn
Zoey enjoying the Eagles game with grandma and a oddly-faced pop-pop...
Grandma and pop-pop bragging about 'dem Eagles... E.A.G.L.E.S... EAGLES!
*** I am an eagles fan my marriage.. since becoming a Mattes i have cheered for the eagles, deep down i am a bucs fan...

Up and running...
Our cord came in about 2 hours ago! woohoo.. its sad how much you realize how much you use your computer when its taken away from you... so in no particular order.. a visual update... Zoey in her pack-n-play.. an amazing device for when your child crawls EVERYWHERE! She cracks us up with faces she makes smooshing her face up against the sides.. Gary's christmas present... sant was a little late in his delivery... Alex with his cool tat! Sam and Zoey playing together.. Grandma and Zoey.. a picture for an aunt in dallas... Zoey enjoying her yogurt melts.. they are like crack to Zoey.. I am extremely proud of this... this is our grocery list from last week.. it is as tall as i am.. and it was only $175.00! i am seriously proud of it and still have it.. I know im a dork! This was last night.. zoey got her basket stuck on her arm...
Zoey also hit her eight month anniversary of being born! and here is a brief outline of what she is doing...
- crawling, pulling-up, getting injuries from pulling-up, saying mama and dada, mama only in times of distress feeding herself small foods, clapping, banging, waving bye-bye
- loves... books, food, sleeping, talking to mama and dad, peek-a-boo, watching sesame street, being a mama's girl, being scared, laughing, being tickled, singing during "itsy bitsy",
how could you not love that face?

HAPPY 2009!
2008 was an amazing year for the Mattes! I must say the best thing about 2008 has to be Zoey... She is an amazing little girl who captured our hearts the moment we saw her.. Everyday she amazes us with how wonderful she is..
(I would add some wonderful pictures of Zoey at this point but unfortunately Gary and Cyrus had an unfortunate incident with our laptop's power cord.. and we are currently awaiting the arrival of a new one.. and since all of our pictures are on that computer.. you will simply have to look back at previous posts to adore Zoey.)
Our New Year's Eve was quite uneventful.. We went over to gary's parents house for some food and family... all in all not to exciting but perfectly exciting to parents of an eight month old! although Zoey did stay up with us to enjoy the New Year.. that little booger would not go to sleep, but slept in until 10 this morning...
I would like to post resolutions for the family but.. let's be honest they will be broken by february anyway.. let's just say we are hoping that 2009 is an even better year than 2008!
HAPPY NEW YEAR! May this year be better than you expect!
