Hurricane Isaac Week

Since we were officially off of school for Monday and Tuesday in preparation for Hurrican Isaac, we took the advantage and had a nice family day! First was breakfast at Waffle House, and then the PARK!

After some naps and relaxing... this boy certainly is LOVING his daddy lately!

we took the kids outside to play... Dax found the chalk... and colored himself more than the ground!
Thankfully for us... we barely got any rain and wind... but we did get Wednesday off as well!

Our Weekend!

Last weekend was pretty eventful around these parts... it started off pretty tame...

Then we had TWO sleepovers at our house... Friday night was Haley,  in preparation for Baby Smith to arrive... we needed a test run on Haley sleeping over, since she will be sleeping here when Holly goes into labor... then Saturday, Gary had his fantasy football draft at Chad's house... so I invited Maegan and Sydney over to play and sleepover... Zoey was in HEAVEN! and honestly both sleepovers went PERFECTLY!!!

On Sunday we headed to Chad and Stacey's house to deliver the girls home and swim and play for a bit... All of this action finally got to Dax and he passed out
I'm always up for some good snuggles!
and while Gary drafted his second fantasy football team... we got word that school was cancelled due to Hurrican Isaac! BONUS!

Lemonade Stand!

Since reading a book about a Lemonade Stand, Zoey has been begging to set up a lemonade stand....
trying to avoid it as much as possible.. I kept putting it off... step in Daddy! Zoey as asking about it one morning, and then Gary got up and left the room... and was gone for a while...

When he returned... we saw this....

Using a box from our lawn mower he fashioned an entire lemonade stand... VERY IMPRESSIVE if you ask me, and BOTH kids LOVED it.... they spent the next days playing non-stop in it...

Then they had to decorate it...of course!

Good Job Daddy!

First Day of School!

Before the kids started school... I took them to my school for a bit... they loved walking around the big kid halls and sitting in the big kid desks!

Then on their first day of school.... They were sooo excited!

Zoey showing off her new outfit that Grandma bought.

Me snuggling with them one more time..

Dax refusing to have his picture taken...

Zoey ready with her backpack!

Dax finally a little ok.. with his new backpack!
Unfortunately the drop off did not go as well... for anyone involved.. I cried, Dax cried... and Zoey could have cared less. School has been a little rougher this year for the kids, we are slowly working towards smooth transitions in the morning. Zoey is doing well... but still doesn't like the naps. Dax is still a little fussy in the morning, but is happy all day.

I am finding the transition to be ok. I wish I could be home all day with my munchkins, and I am EXHAUSTED at the end of the day, but for the most part I love what I am teaching and most of the kids I teach. So its a give and take, and for now, its working.

Gary started his new Athletic Director position at the high school, and I would say he loves it... he doesn't love the long hours away from the kids, but he loves being involved in sports again.

Here's to a good 2012-2013 year!

End of the Summer fun....

The summer is winding down... and all are headed back to school on Monday... (myself included), so this last week we tried to cram some more fun into our last days...

Plaza De Luna Fountains...

Indoor puzzles while it rains...

Zoey and Dax have become the best little friends this summer.. they play together soooo well now.. and they often will ask for each other when one is away... I love seeing how they play so well together... I hope it continues for the rest of their lives...

Sight word Activity...

Zoey and Dax found the magnetic letters I hid away until I knew Dax wouldn't eat them... So after they discovered them.. I made a little project....

I took all the magnets that we have collected from doctor's, pizza places, realtor.. anyone that we didn't need anymore and cut them into small sections...

then I printed off sight words I found....

and glued the magnet sections onto the back..

I put some of the words on the fridge and let her start... the best part was the words were printed in lower case and the magnet letters are upper case.. so she gets to practice putting the words together and the difference in the letters... (didn't plan it.. but it a happy accident)

Things are winding down here for the summer... and as everyone heads back to school (myself included)... We are trying to fit all the fun activities in before its back to the grind....

One night Zoey and I headed out for some ice cream...

Daddy building a tall tower...

The kids washing mommy's car... they loved it!

Reading books together...

Zoey is sooo good at drawing....
Statue of Liberty.. and a pirate ship with the ocean around it...

Always ready for a pose...
